Hornets Fall in 4th Quarter to Haynesville After a Hard Fought Game

Friday night's home game versus the Haynesville Tornados brought all the action and suspense this match-up promises each year.  Arcadia's Hornets jumped out to an early lead as they marched down the field in their opening possession and topped off the drive with a 6-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Jefferson to Ja'Qualon Crane. In the second quarter, Haynesville took advantage of two Arcadia fumbles and scored two touchdowns of their own, leaving the score 8 – 15 at halftime.

The Hornets came out quickly in the third and marched down the field again to score with a 9-yard run by Tyler Jefferson.  (14 – 15).  Haynesville then answered with a two-yard touchdown run.

Battling injuries to key players, our Hornets showed great determination. They again answered in the fourth quarter with an incredibly athletic 60-yard touchdown run from quarterback Tyler Jefferson, once again bringing the Tornados' lead to just one point (20 – 21). Haynesville would score once more, leaving the scene set for a dramatic game-winning drive for the Hornets.  Penalty after penalty drove the Hornets backward, but they were not deterred.  The Hornets were facing 4th and 4 yards on the Tornados' 48 yard-line with a minute left in the game.  Unfortunately, the ball was spotted just short of the line-to-gain, resulting in a turnover on downs.  Haynesville took a knee and slipped away with a 20 – 28 victory.

It was a fantastic game to see, and our Hornets played exceptionally well.  Our team's improvement can be seen week to week, and it will be tested next Friday, 30 October, as they face the Haughton Buccaneers in Haughton at 7 pm.
